McDONALD _ It is with great sadness, his loving wife Denise announces the sudden passing of her husband of 12 years, Robert Dale McDonald, at the age of 49. Rob was predeceased by his loving father Jim who passed away in 1998. He leaves to mourn his mother Anne, his brother Doug (Sandra), father and mother-in-law Denis and Lily Fry, brothers-in-law: Stephen, Alan (Melody) Fry, his nephew and nieces: Sean, Kevin, Tyler, Chase, Brandon, Nathan, Nicolle, Tyler and Luke, as well as numerous other relatives and many, many friends. Rob as well leaves behind his two favorite passions, a 1951 Pontiac Silver Streak and a 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix. Rob spent many years devotedly restoring and customizing these vehicles. Rob's cars were well known in the car club community for his creative and distinctive style and the unique use of LED lights. This was apparent when he won 1st place at the Peachland "World of Wheels" in the 2002 for Stock Car Pre '54 class. Many, many thanks to Norm Blaney and Rob's good friends at Kelowna Custom Car club for completing the final touches on Rob's 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix. Rob's passions will be on display at the 25th Anniversary of the Blossom Run '06 in Summerland this Saturday, May 20th and Peachland this Sunday, May 21st. A celebration of Rob's life will be held on Saturday, May 27th at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rob's memory to the BC Children's Hospital Foundation, 4480 Oak Street, Room B321, Vancouver, BC, V6H 3V4.
