Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late James Jesse and Irene Golden Cathcart.Mr. Cathcart was a member of Mauldin First Baptist Church.Before retiring, he worked as a machinist for John D. Hollingsworth on Wheels.Surviving, in addition to his wife of 62 years, are a daughter, Martha Cathcart Tillotson; four sons, Curtis, Wesley, David and Dennis Cathcart; four grandchildren, Army Specialist Michael Petrovich, Jesse, Ashley and Danielle Cathcart, and two great-grandchildren, Robert and Cheyenne Cathcart.He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carrie Turner and Nellie Brewington, and two brothers, Earl and Lawrence Cathcart.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, Greenville County, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605.Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast, Simpsonville, with a graveside service to follow at 3:00 p.m. in Graceland Cemetery, West.Condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.thomasmcafee.com.
