Paul Henderson, of 104 Dacus Drive, Williamston, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Greenville Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born in Pelzer, he was the son of the late William Mentford and Vannie Irene Henderson. He worked in textiles most of his life, but was retired from Williamston Police Department and Anderson Armored Car Co. in Greenville. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Williamston, where he was a member of the Conrad Davenport Sunday School Class. Mr. Henderson was a highly decorated World War II veteran, having been honored with the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Bronze Star, and numerous other medals of valor and commendation. Survivors are his wife, Mildred Henderson; one son, Darryl Henderson; two daughters, Paulette Ballard of Charlotte, N.C., and Debbie Simmons; and two brothers, Dewey and Randy Henderson. He had four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at Calvary Baptist Church in Williamston Friday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m., with burial following at Williamston Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight. The Conrad Davenport Sunday School Class and the Hope Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers.
