Pastor Florence M. Williams, 74, finished her course on June 19, 2011, at Flagler Hospital.The senior pastor and founder of the Mt. Olive United Holy Church, she attended the area schools and later graduated from cosmetology school in Richmond, Va.After answering the call, Pastor Williams experienced God's goodness for herself. She became the first woman appointed district elder within the Southeastern District.Calling hours are 5-7 p.m. today at Mt. Olive United Holy Church and from noon until the service hour on Saturday. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Elder Thomas Cave II officiating. Those who hold her memories dear are her devoted husband, Alvoid Williams of St. Augustine, Florida; brothers, Johnny Ferrell of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Kyra Ferrell of St. Augustine; sisters, Juanita Lewis, Bertha Elmore, Constance Fulwood and Delores Rogers, all of St. Augustine; stepdaughters, Juanita Williams and Elouise McBride of West Palm Beach; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a loving church family.Leo C.
