CENTRE — Mrs. Mary Yvonne Hammonds Cox, 42, passed away February 14, 2009 at Wedowee Hospital in Wedowee, Ala. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2009, at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Hardin officiating. Burial will follow in Calcedonia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight. Memorials may be made to the family or flowers will be accepted. Pallbearers include Mike Hammonds, Jarred Nicholson, Jeff Jiles, Chris Cox, Robbie Cox, Larry Deese, Blake Borders, and Clyde Dildine. Mrs. Cox is survived by husband, Mike Cox, Centre; sons, Justin (Casey) Morris, Pleasant Valley, and Jonathon Morris, Centre; parents, Wallace and Linda Hammonds, Jacksonville; step father, Jack Pope, Centre; brother, Larry (Pam) Pope, Centre; sisters, Deana (Ronald) Hayes, Gadsden, Jacqueline (Jarred) Nicholson, Centre; grandmother, Florence Pate, Jacksonville, mother-in-law, Margie Cox, Tunnel Hill, Ga.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Helen Pope; grandparents, Frank and Flora Hammonds and Sam and Clara Nance; father-in-law, Charles Cox. Mrs. Cox was a native of Calhoun County, was employed with Alabama Family Healthcare Center and was a member of New Prospect #1 Baptist Church. Perry Funeral Home, directing.
