Michael Thomas Smith of Johnson City, N.Y. Michael Thomas Smith, 36, of Johnson City, N.Y., passed away suddenly at Lourdes Hospital Tuesday morning, November 25, 2008. Mike (Smitty) went on before us to reunite with his deceased father, Thomas H. Smith; and grandparents, Philip J. Swetter of Stevensville, Pa., Emery T. and Viola Smith of Vestal, N.Y., and Oscar L. and Alice Wanck of Owego, N.Y. Among the many people who have been touched by his zest for life and love of people, are his immediate family, fianc&eacute; and soul mate, Christine Robinson and their loyal and treasured pet, Chumley of Johnson City, N.Y.; his parents, Glenn and Wanda Wanck of Endicott, N.Y.; his brother and family, Jeffery Thomas Smith, wife Jennifer and daughters, Olivia, Amelia and Cecily of Owego, N.Y.; grandmother, Rita Swetter of Stevensville, Pa.; and much loved extended family. Mike graduated from Maine-Endwell High School, where he was a member of the men's swim team. Mike also proudly served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy as a Damage Control Officer. Mike was a dedicated employee of Good Shepherd Fairview Home in Binghamton. Tuesday, December 2, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Endicott Elks Lodge, 619 N. Nanticoke Avenue, Endicott, N.Y., there will be a reception of family and friends followed by a celebration of Mike's life. Written memories and photos to share are welcomed.
