Michael Scott Smith, 16, of 151 Lightening Lane, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008. Born in Greenville, he was a son of Dennis Scott Smith and Sonya Cox Cantrell. Michael was a student at Travelers Rest High School and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother, Matt Smith; a sister, Megan Smith; paternal grandparents, Dennis and Kathy Smith; maternal grandparents, Richard and Jennie Cox; paternal great-grandparents, Clyde and Frances Smith; stepfather, Gary Cantrell; two stepbrothers, Jacob and Jay Cantrell; two aunts; two uncles; and numerous cousins.The funeral service will be Saturday, November 29, 2008, at 12 Noon at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, with visitation from 10-11:45 a.m. prior. The family is at their respective homes.
