MICHAEL "MIKE" LEE SMITH1953-2007Mr. Michael "Mike" Lee Smith, 53, of Pensacola, FL passed away Thursday, February 08, 2007. Mike was born in Dothan, AL and spent most of his life in Pensacola. In the late 60's, Mike became a drummer and started with the group "The Pride." Later in the 1970's he joined a group called "Lymon Slack" who went on to open for "Lynyrd Skynyrd" and "Wet Willie." He later played with various groups locally before retiring from playing music and entering the construction trade. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Kate Smith. Mike is survived by his wife Kim Smith of Navarre, FL, his brother George Smith of Gainesville, FL, his sisters Judy (Gil) Cote of Pensacola, FL, and Dora (Bill) Holdsworth of Gainesville, FL, many nieces and nephews and his longtime companion and faithful dog, Sandy.Funeral services for Mike will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 12:00 P.M. in the Oak Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, February 12, 2007 for his visitation. OAK LAWN FUNERAL HOME will be in charge of all arrangements.
