Michael Harding Smith November 25, 1964 - May 3, 2006 - Midway -Michael Harding Smith was born in Charleston, WV on November 25, 1964. He died at the age of 41 at the home of his parents, Robert and Jane Cook, in Midway, GA on May 3rd, 2006. Mike, who lived in Savannah for the past 39 years, was educated in the Chatham County School System, graduating from Windsor Forest HS and received an Associate Degree from Central Piedmont College in Charlotte, NC. He was clubhouse manager for the Savannah Braves for several years after which he worked for the City Recreation Department. In the past 13 years, he has been employed by Memorial Medical Center where he was known throughout the hospital for his cheerfulness, bright smile and love of sports. He was active in the recreational leagues both as a player for the Sun Devils Organization and later as a scorekeeper in the adult leagues. He was a lifelong Presbyterian. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Jane Cook; his brother, Barry R.Smith, Jr. and wife, Lee, of Atlanta, GA; his sister, Elizabeth Terra and husband, Steve, of Hinesville, GA; step-sister, Vicky Taylor of Savannah; three step-brothers, Tommy Cook and his wife, Lisa, of McIntosh County, John Cook and wife, Laura, of Bulloch County and Patrick Cook and wife, Dean, of Madison, GA; aunts, Elizabeth Eaton of Savannah, Kay Frame of Oakville, CA; uncles, Ellis Frame and wife, Catherine, of Summerville, WV and Jerry Smith and wife, Judi, of Conroe, TX. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. His father, Barry R. Smith and step-brother, Robert "Rip" Cook, predeceased him. Memorial service will be held at White Bluff Presbyterian Church, 10710 White Bluff Road, Savannah at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 6, 2006. A private burial will follow.
