Shanks, MaryMary Jane Shanks, age 77, of Wilton, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 2, 2012. She was born on April 28, 1935 in Mt. Vernon, NY, daughter of the late John and Katherine Hoctor. Mary Jane was the former owner of the Shamrock Freight Company. She was an avid knitter and reader and enjoyed socializing with all of her friends at Ogden House and the Senior Center in Wilton. Survivors include two sons, Dennis P. Oehmsen and his wife Janet of Columbus, IN and David S. Oehmsen and his wife Deniece of Kennesaw, GA; two daughters Karen Lancia and her husband Tom of Port Chester, NY and Jennifer Belinsky and her husband Walter of Fairfield, CT, a brother Jack Hoctor and his wife Ginny of Chambersburg, PA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, Darryl, Nicole, John, Megan and Caroline, two nephews, John Hoctor and his wife Sandy, Thomas Hoctor and his wife Kimberly, and a niece, Patricia Collins and her husband Bill.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 5, 10:30 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, 15 Shea Pl., New Rochelle, NY, with burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Church, in New Rochelle. Mary Jane's family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Thursday from 3-7 PM.
