Mary Jeanette Williams March 1, 1997- June 17, 2014 Columbus, Georgia- Mary Jeanette Williams, age 17, departed this life Tuesday, June 17th at her home. She was the daughter of Ray Kelly Williams and Eleanor Jones Williams. She had attended Brookstone School for middle school, and Columbus High School. She would have been a rising Senior at Brookstone High School for the coming academic year. She is survived by her parents, her sister Casey Nell Orlando of Kennesaw, Georgia, two brothers, Ray Kelly Williams, Jr. and Clayton Chandler Williams and her maternal grandparents, Jeanette and Milton Jones of Columbus, aunts and uncles, Drs. George R. Wilmot III and Janice Jones Wilmot of Lilburn, Georgia, Thomas Michael and Suzanne Lee Jones of Columbus, Broughton and Alma Williams of Moultrie, Georgia and Wynton and Charlotte Overstreet of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and many other cousins. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Carey Broughton Williams and Mary Kelly Williams of Moultrie, Georgia. Mary was beautiful, intelligent, sweet and thoughtful. She was loved by all who knew her. She was one of those young people of whom it is said, correctly, "She can become anything she wants." Unfortunately, Mary lost the battle with depression. Please learn from Mary so that in some measure her death may not be in vain. The family especially wants to thank the Guidance Department at Columbus High, the Homebound Program of the Muscogee County School District and the faculty and administration of Brookstone who had agreed to let Mary "come back home." These, and many others, did everything they could to help Mary. If love could have saved her, she would have lived forever. The Funeral arrangements begin with a Remembrance Life Celebration at First Presbyterian in the Gathering Hall Saturday, June 21st, 2014 starting at 10am and will be immediately followed by the Funeral Service at 11am in the Main Sanctuary. Flowers are accepted but donations if you desire may be made to The Compassionate Friends, at P. O. Box 3696, Oak Brook, IL 60522 or at http://www.compassionatefriends.org Condolences may be offered at www.shcolumbus.com
