Graveside service for Mary Fischer Fuller, 86, of Decatur will be Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with the Rev. Asa Boozer and the Rev. Terry Greer officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be this evening from 4:30 to 5:30 at the funeral home. Mrs. Fuller, who died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at Decatur General Hospital, was born Dec. 31, 1919, in Decatur to Otto Fischer and Lela Lawrence Fischer. She began her working career in the late 1930’s at Mutual Savings Life Insurance Co., and later resumed work in the 1950’s and 1960’s at Pearce, DeMoss and King. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, as was her mother, Lela Fischer. Later in life, she developed a passion for reading classics as well as English and southern fiction. In the last few years of her life, she started writing poetry and playing the piano. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Fuller, longtime teacher and football coach at Decatur High School. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Fuller of New York City; two nephews, Lorenzo Dow Patterson IV of San Antonio, Texas, and Otto Fischer III of Wichita, Kan.; plus numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Decatur General Hospital Foundation or to First United Methodist Church.
