Mary Elizabeth Williamsof LeRaysville, Pa.Mary Elizabeth Williams, died at her home on April 22, 2005 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 19, 1934 in Dallas, Pa., the only daughter of the late Dr. Sherman and Dorothy (Farr) Schooley. Following her graduation at Wyoming Seminary, she studied at Penn State University where she met her future husband, Archie. They left school to marry and begin their life farming in LeRaysville, Pa. It was quite a change for a city girl, but she learned to do it all from gardening to farm work to raising six children. After her children were raised, she returned to her love of painting. Together they enjoyed traveling to area craft shows and people traveled from miles to purchase her paintings. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends and will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor. Mary loved her life on the farm and it was there that she passed away. Besides her parents; she was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wendall and Cora Willliams; and her sister-in-law, Ellen Williams. Mary is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Archie; her daughters Cindy Meade and special friend, Jim McDonald, Medina, Ohio, Abby and Dan Jones, Friendsville, Susan Edsell, Rome, Patty and LaRue Harkness, Rome; her sons, Archie Jr. and wife, Lisa Williams, Baxter Springs, Kans., Michael and his wife, Jennifer Williams, Roanoke, Va.; her special grandchildren, Elizabeth and her husband, Matthew Ackenhead, Michael Meade, Alyssa, Zack, and Dakota Jones, Brandon and Brittany Edsell, Shane, Nicole and Dylan Chapman, Amy, Nathan, Megan and Eli Williams, Clay Williams and her newest granddaughter, Jenna Williams, whom she was able to hold the night before her death. Mary is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Laural Ackenhead; and brother-in-law, Carlton Williams.A period of visitation and sharing will be held on Monday evening, April 25th, from 6-9 p.m. at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Funeral services and celebration of Mary's life will be held on Tuesday, April 26th, at 11 a.m. at the Rome Presbyterian Church, Rome, Pa., with her Pastor Rev. Karen R. Ballard and her son, Pastor Archie "Skip" Williams, Jr. officiating. Interment and prayers will follow in the Neath Cemetery. Those who wish may kindly consider a memorial contribution to the LeRaysville Fire Company, Main St., LeRaysville, Pa. 18829, in loving memory of Mary Elizabeth Williams.
