Sullivan, Mary E. MECHANICVILLE Mrs. Mary Eleanor Sullivan, 78, of Spring St., died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at her home following an extended illness. Born in Albany, May 21, 1921, daughter of the late James and Mary Rice Mahoney, she was a 1946 graduate of Vincentian Institute of Albany. An employee of the accounting department for NY Telephone for five years, until she and her late husband, William Donald Sullivan, started their family, at which time she devoted the rest of her life to her children and families. Locally, Mrs. Sullivan worked at the former Hayner's Bakery in Mechanicville for a number of years. A communicant of Assumption-St. Paul Church, she was a crossing guard for the former St. Paul's Parochial School in Mechanicville. Creating scrapbooks of her family and other interests was something that kept her busy, and she had a wonderful sense of humor, and enjoyed life. Her husband of 45 years, Wm. Donald died May 23, 1998. Surviving children include John P. (Wendy) Sullivan, Mary "Cissy" (John) Moyles, Mark "Bove" (Kathleen) Sullivan, Julia (Marc) Phelps, all of Mechanicville, and Maureen (George Belcher) Sullivan of St. John, V.I.; seven grandchildren; Kathleen Sullivan, Jennifer Hollman, Christopher, Kevin, James, Colleen and Patrick Sullivan; siblings, Kathleen (Edward) Hurlburt of Albany and James (Marie) Mahoney of Midland, Mich.; along with nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by brothers, Thomas and John Mahoney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Assumption-St. Paul North Main Street Church. Burial in St. Paul's Cemetery. Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So.
