LINDEN, Va. - Mary C. Cox, 87, of Linden, Va., passed away on March 8, 2013, at her home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, Va. Mrs. Cox was born March 3, 1926, in Riverton, Vt., daughter of the late Cipriano and Floripes Higuera Canales. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Charles E. Cox, on Feb. 2, 2009. She retired from the U.S. government as an executive secretary and clerical supervisor. She and her late husband, Charles, loved to travel. Surviving are nieces Fran Barnhart, Clara Gosselin (Gaston), Bonnie Sartwell, Judy Wells (Dale); one stepdaughter, two stepsons, one step-granddaughter; numerous great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews. Along with her husband and parents, Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Higuera; a brother, Peter Canales; and a niece, Phyllis Cameron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Support Group, c/o Lee Mangene, P.O. Box 523, Front Royal, VA 22630.
