Athens - Mary Anderson Waldrop Jones died Friday, September 11, 2009 at Grandview Care Center.She was born in Monticello on October 19, 1920. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Elizabeth Dennis Waldrop and Kirby Jackson Waldrop, her husband Jack T. Jones, sister Martha Ree Waldrop McAlister and brother George Lamar Waldrop. Mary is survived by her youngest brother, Oscar OíBrian Waldrop of Griffin, as well as her nieces, Daisy Elizabeth McAlister Fowler of Watkinsville and Mary Caroline McAlister Harrell of Athens; her nephews, Lucious S. Waldrop of Hinesville and John T. Waldrop of Culloden, their spouses, children and grandchildren.Mary moved from Monticello to Griffin and lived there for many years. Five years ago she moved to Athens to be cared for by her niece. Mary was known for her quick wit, her ability to laugh at any situation and her love for her family. She always kept the entire family laughing with her and often times at her. She was affectionately know to her family as Manie. Mary enjoyed the last years of her life at Grandview. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Lord and Stephens, EAST with the Rev. Lee McNeil officiating. Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
