Margaret M. Watts, 90 SOUTH THOMASTON -- Margaret M. Watts, 90, a former resident of Elm Street, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at the Windham Residential Care Facility in Windham after a period of failing health. Mrs. Watts was born June 17, 1917, in Sterling, Conn., the daughter of Robert McConnell Marriott and Mary Underwood Marriott, attended schools in Connecticut and Maine, and is a 1935 graduate of St. George High School. Mrs. Watts married Charles S. Bud Watts of South Thomaston on Jan. 11, 1942. They lived all their married life in South Thomaston. More recently Margaret has lived in Gorham with her daughter Marcia and son-in-law David Wilcox, since 1999. She apprenticed at Al Plourde's Hairdressing Salon, then owned and operated Margaret's Beauty Salon out of her home in South Thomaston for 45 years. An active member of the Peoples United Methodist Church in South Thomaston, she served as a Sunday School teacher and organist for many years. Mrs. Watts was predeceased by her husband, Charles Bud Watts in October 1999; one brother, Harold Marriott of Dover, Del., and her sister, Beverly Davis of Port Clyde. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and David Wilcox of Gorham; three grandchildren, Edward Teddy Wilcox of Gorham, Andy Wilcox of New York City, and Susan Wilcox of South Portland; and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Sarah Wilcox of Gorham. At Mrs. Watts' request, there will be a graveside service 11 a.m., Monday, April 28, at the Village Cemetery, Dublin Road, South Thomaston, and reception to follow at the Peoples United Methodist Church, Chapel Street, South Thomaston. The Rev. Juni Shepardson will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Hall & Bibber Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 78 Main St., Thomaston.
