FREELAND, Margaret Jane - 71, of Mountain Lee Rd., North River. It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their dearest Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Marg passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of May 26, 2008 due to complications following heart surgery on May 25th. She was born October 10th 1936, the daughter of Gerald and Verna Cox of Dean Settlement. She is survived by her husband of 50 years; Ken, her children; Terry (Patricia), Winnipeg, Elaine (friend Russell), Dartmouth, Michael (fiance Melissa), Truro, grandchildren; Amanda, Jennifer, Daniel, Jacob, Sarah, Anna and great grandchild Hallie; sisters; Rita, Irene (Warren), Betty, Deanna (John); brothers; John and Dale. Marg was active in the CNIB and was instrumental within the working group that had the audible signals for the visually impaired installed at crosswalks in Truro. An avid bowler both before and after losing her sight she remained active in the CNIB bowling league until this past season ended as well as the Michelin Retirees Bowling League. Always outgoing, she made friends wherever she went and was always involved in community activities until her sight restricted the type of activities that she could assist with. Marg will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7-9 pm; memorial service on Thursday at 2:30 pm, both in COLCHESTER COMMUNITY FUNERAL HOME, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Gary Burrill officiating. Reception to follow the service. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Upper Stewiacke. Family flowers only.
