Smith, Marcia Kathryn LOUDONVILLE/Nantucket Mass. Marcia Kathryn Smith passed away on Monday December 20, 2010 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Marcia was born in Fresno, Calif., the middle daughter of the late Frances and Margaret Kelly. Marcia is survived by her loving husband, Irwin J. Smith III of Loudon ville, N.Y.; his children, Kimberly Smith (Bill), Elizabeth Smith, Jennifer Fletcher; and his grandchildren, Arcadia and Jennifer Keefe and Ethan Fletcher. Marcia was the beloved mother of Margaret Caruso (David) Cunningham of Sharon Springs, N.Y., Elizabeth C. (Gregg) Christo of Reading, Mass., Richard Blaise Caruso of Hong Kong; and the cherished grandmother of Melissa Kathryn and Blaise William Christo. Marcia spent her early childhood in Sitka, Alaska and Lake Oswego, Ore. where she studied classical piano. She attended Stamford University for two years, moved to NYC, became a flight attendant for TWA, enrolled in NYU and was a fashion model for the Ford Agency featured on the cover of Vogue. In 1958 Marcia married Richard P. Caruso and moved to Weston, Mass. where she raised her three children. She was a member of the Women's City Club, Boston, Mass. and the Weston Golf Club. Marcia worked in the fashion industry and as a realtor in Weston and Nantucket until retiring in 2004. In 1990 by blessed happenstance, Marcia met the love of her life, Irwin J. Smith at Saratoga Race Track. In 1994 Irv and Marcia were married at the Unitarian Church on Nantucket Island. Friends and acquaintances are invited to join her family for a celebration of Marcia's life to be held at Schuyler Meadows Club, in Loudonville, N.Y. on Tuesday, December 28, 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to the Albany Memorial Hospital, 600 Northern Blvd., Albany NY 12204 or Nantucket Cottage Hospital Foundation, 57 Prospect Street, Nantucket, MA 02554.
