MICHAEL RICHARD PARKER - ST. ALBANS - Michael Richard Parker, 43, entered the Kingdom of Heaven, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Dec. 22, 2013. He was born in Burlington, Nov. 13, 1970, to Eddy Parker and Karen Sue Bent. He attended schools in Jericho and Colchester. He graduated from Champlain College with a bachelor's degree in computer science. He was employed by Vermont Information Consortium as a software developer for the last five years. Michael enjoyed creating software programs and took pride in his work and accomplishments. Michael was dedicated to his wife and children, always making sure they had everything they needed. He was involved with his children's sports activities as a coach. Something of an overgrown kid himself, he loved to arrange games of flashlight tag or kickball. In his family, he is the undisputed Scrabble champion. In spite of many difficulties, Michael was always ambitious and motivated to succeed in everything he did. In the face of hardship, he always maintained a positive attitude, which was a source of inspiration to everyone who knew him. Michael is survived by his wife of 14 years, Elizabeth (Currier) Parker; son, Michael Aube and wife, Vanessa, of Seymour, Conn.; daughter, Samantha Parker and sons, Josiah and Newton Parker; father, Eddy L. Parker and wife, Patsy; mother, Karen Sue and husband, Stephen Bent, all of St. Albans; sister, Joy Hayes and husband, Ryan, and children, Grace, Amsden and Simon, of Auburn, Maine; brother, Andrew Parker of Portland, Maine; brother, Luke Parker and son, David, of St. Albans; stepbrother, Stephen M. Bent and wife, Laura, and children, Sam, Levi and David, of Essex Junction; stepsister, Mary Elizabeth Badonsky and husband, Glenn, and children, Elijah and Zoe, of Semmes, Ala.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins whom he enjoyed visiting at family events. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Morgan, Mr. Edward Parker, and Mrs. Lea Wheelock. Michael's family would like to express their gratitude for all the love and support they have received from many family, friends and community members during this difficult time. A memorial service to honor his life will be held on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Rock, 1091 Fairfax Road, St. Albans.
