HORTON, Melvin Lee, 54, a resident of Marbury, AL, died on Saturday, August 11, 2001 after a short battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 13, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Reverend Wayne Smith officiating. Burial will follow at New Prospect Cemetery in Marbury with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Horton was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He later retired from Union Camp after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Thompson Horton, father and step-mother, Waymond and Lucille Horton, and step-brother, Jack West. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Shirley Horton; one son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie Dwayne and Christine Horton, all of Marbury, AL; one granddaughter, Sydney Elizabeth; two grandsons, Matthew Lee Horton and Brandon Wallace; two special nieces, Rachelle Agin and Cynthia Horton; one sister, Sherry Smith, Jonesboro, AR; four brothers and one sister-in-law, Larry and Diane Horton, Walnut Ridge, AR, Kenneth Smith, IL, Tim Holloway, Jonesboro, AR and James Holloway, FL; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandra and R.L. Hines, Prattville, AL and special friends, Janice Murphy, Becky Boyd and Alice Driggers. Pallbearers will be Aaron Joiner, Julius Wright, Phillip Murphy, Len Wright, Donny Beaird and Ricky Little.Cmp after 30 years of service.
