EDISON - Lugene Wood Barcalow Jr., age 85, of Edison, died on Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Trenton, he lived in Edison for many years. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II he was honored with a Bronze Star. Mr. Barcalow was employed by the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 prior to his retirement. As an avid golfer, he was a longtime member of the Cranbury Golf Club, West Windsor.Mr. Barcalow was predeceased by his wife, Anna, his son, Terry, his daughter, Judy, and his brother, Dudley.Surviving are two daughters, Christine Barcalow and Beth Barcalow Kauwe; his sister, Udetta Dragon; and his grandchildren, Terry and Casey Roland, Joseph and Charlette Barcalow, and Seth Cunningham.Cremation was private under the direction of Park Memorial Home, LLC, 75 Woodbridge Ave., Highland Park. A memorial service will be held at noon Wednesday (Aug. 10) at the funeral home. The family will receive guests from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Barcalow's memory may be made to The First Tee, www.thefirsttee.org, or to a fund to be established in support of the Edison High School Golf Team.
