Lorraine Williams Lorraine passed away peacefully Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the age of 82 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. A Service to celebrate Lorraine's life will take place at 1:00 on Friday, August 14, 2009 at GraceWestminster United Church with Reverend Michael Webster officiating with a private interment to follow. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Irene Hayden; her sister, Betty; and Ray, her husband, of 54 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Bruce (Judy) and Brian (Ruth Hamer); grandchildren, Joal, Jenelle, Jennifer (Jay) and Allison (Steve); greatgrandchild, Benjamin; niece, Marlene (Bill) Fenske; nephew, Garnet (Mickey) Smith and their families; cousin, Dale (Kay Ferguson) Farrell; as well as many friends and other relatives. She was born on April 1, 1927 in Eatonia, SK. She and her family moved to Sutherland, where she attended public school and completed her education at City Park Collegiate and Saskatoon Business College. She and Ray married in October of 1948 and they purchased their first and last home on Spadina Crescent in 1949, and twins, Bruce and Brian were welcomed the following year. With her secretarial training, Lorraine worked in different capacities and her last area of employment was in the music industry. Music was central to Lorraine's life and she continued to play piano and organ until her illness prevented her in doing so. Ray and Lorraine spent many wonderful years together volunteering for organizations and causes such as Jeux Canada Games, CARG, The Heart and Stroke Foundation and pet therapy. They were also fortunate enough to travel many places together and they spent a lot of their spare time gardening, spending time with family, as well as activity within the Riversdale Kiwanis Club and many years of square dancing, where they met and were embraced by a large circle of friends that developed into many lifelong friendships. These years were of joy and made of special memories and we are comforted to know that she has been reunited with her beloved Ray. We sincerely appreciate the excellent care that doctors, nurses and staff at St. Paul's Palliative Care and CPAS provided to Mom during her illness. Very special thanks to Greg Charyna and staff at Home Instead Senior Care and to Myrna Varga and staff at Keedwell Assisted Living Centre where Mom was able to live her last days with dignity and comfort in their beautiful facility. For those wishing, Memorials of Lorraine may be directed to Heart and Stroke Foundation or CARG (Cardiac Arrest Rehabilitation Group). Arrangements are entrusted to PRAIRIE VIEW CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM (242-7884).
