Leona P. Pelkey 1922-2013 Surrounded by love, Leona Pearl Pelkey slipped quietly from this life on Sunday, October 20, 2013 after a brief illness. Born on December 12, 1922, she was a twin daughter of the late Leonard and Fern (Dee) Williams. She is survived by her children, Freda Mosley of Limestone, Maine, Daryl (Janice Forsythe) of Fredericton, Beverly O’Neil (Kevin) of California Settlement and David (Christina Warren) of Fredericton. She is also survived by three sisters: Velma Brayall of Tilley, NB, Arlene Ladner of Easton, Maine, Ada Perley of Tobique First Nation and one brother, Leonard Williams Jr. of California Settlement, NB. Leona also leaves 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Hubert and Gilbert, three sisters, Alma, Robena her identical twin, Leola and her husband of 66 years, Robert (Bob) Pelkey. Leona lived nearly all of her life in California Settlement and was actively involved in her church and community. She served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Four Falls Pentecostal Church and both the Sunset Cemetery and the Donovan Cemetery in the Settlement for many, many years. For the last two years, she enjoyed a leisurely life in her apartment in Perth Andover in the company of many dear friends. She will be remembered as a kind and generous woman who always had room for one more at her table, in her home and in her heart. Resting at Calvary Tabernacle, Perth-Andover, with visitation on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 2 pm from Calvary Tabernacle. Rev. Marshall Donovan officiating. Interment will follow in the Donovan Cemetery, California Settlement. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Four Falls Pentecostal Church or either of the community cemeteries would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover.
