OKEECHOBEE - Leon Williams passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013 at Okeechobee Healthcare Facility, surrounded by his family. Leon was born Dec. 12, 1916 in Fellsmere, Fla. He moved to Okeechobee with his wife and son in 1949. He is predeceased by his wife, Oveta (Thomas) Williams, whom he married on Sept. 17, 1938; and his sister, Christine Godwin. He is survived by his son, Robert A. Williams (LaVerne) of Okeechobee; three grandchildren, Bryan Williams of Okeechobee, Stephanie Williams-Larson (John) of Okeechobee, and Daphanie Williams-Linville (Jeff) of Normana, Texas; nine great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Buster) Williams, Jr. of Okeechobee; and one sister, Ella Mae Boney of Lorida. A visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Fountain of Life Church, 1302 32nd St. Okeechobee, FL 34974. Funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Buxton-Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory.
