August 29, 2008 Lawrence Edward Humphrey was born July 30, 1939, in Syracuse, New York to George and Helen (Andrews) Humphrey. He graduated from North Syracuse High School in 1958. Larry served four years, three months and 21 days in the United States Navy aboard the USS Coral Sea. He maintained and repaired the firing systems on Naval aircraft. Larry repaired time clock systems for Simplex after the Navy and then worked for Midwestern Instruments in Tulsa, OK. He went to work for AT&T in April of 1967 in Syracuse, NY. Larry transferred back to Oklahoma in 1969 and later to Southwestern Bell as a First Line Supervisor in 1979. He retired from SWB in 1991. Larry served on the Del City Housing Authority and was an avid motorcyclist who rode for over 30 years with his brother-in-law, Richard Wall, and enjoyed touring with GWRRA for 20 years. He loved all sports, especially football. He was a dedicated fan of O.U. and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved to dance and travel, and was always laughing. He loved water sports and fishing. He truly enjoyed life and made the best of every situation. Larry was a dedicated husband and caring father and grandfather who loved spending time and traveling with his grandchildren and doing "home improvement projects" with his sons. Larry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sara Jane (Wall) Humphrey; and three sons, Thomas and Maggie Humphrey of Midwest City, Ronald and Ann Humphrey of Del City, Robert and Samantha Humphrey of Del City; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Thomas, Jessica, Amber, Shannon, Sabrina, Anthony, Chase, Steven, Catherine, Ian, and Amanda. He is also survived by his mother and step-father, Helen and Bob Shine of N. Syracuse, NY; brother, Robert and Judy of Elkhart, IN; brother, Duane (Kip) of N. Syracuse, NY; and sister, Jeanne Humphrey of Tully, NY. He was preceded in death by his father, George R. Humphrey and a brother William (Billy) Humphrey. Larry was loved and respected by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and everyone he met along life's path. His passing leaves a void in many lives. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel, Del City, OK.
