Mrs. Laura Marie Spidell (Williams) May 31, 1926 - August 27, 2008 SPIDELL (Williams), Laura Marie - 82, Queensport, formerly of Lower Sackville, passed away unexpectedly in Northwood Centre, Halifax, on August 27, 2008. Born in Queensport, she was the youngest daughter of the late Simon Henry and Charlotte Ann (Grover) Williams. In her younger years, she was employed by Simpsons in Halifax and after raising her family she was employed at GB Murphy's Jewelry Store in Bedford, Vogue Fabric store in Lower Sackville, and Compton Insurance, Lower Sackville. Upon their return to Queensport, Marie and her predeceased husband, Robert Raymond Spidell (March 3, 2007), owned and operated the Guysborough Insurance Agency. Marie was a devoted member of both St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Lower Sackville, and St. James the Martyr Anglican Church, Halfway Cove. She was well-known for her quilt making and her love for picking and preserving berries. Surviving are her children, Nancy (Roger) McDonald, East Lawrencetown; Darryl (Cindy) Spidell, Hammonds Plains; Lorrie Murphy (Philip De Wolfe), South Rawdon; grandchildren, Ryan, Derek, Colleen, Melanie, Kayleigh, Jessica, Charlotte, and Maggie; great-grandchildren, Emerson and Cuyler. She was predeceased by sisters, Rita, Goldie, Verena, Edna, Helena and Sylvia. A family only visitation will take place today from 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 1, in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Old Sackville Road, Rev. Gloria Penwell officiating. Reception to follow. Donations in Marie's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Parkinson Society Canada, Maritime Region, or to a charity of one's choice.
