Kathleen-Helen Smith, conjointe de Charles Smith, fille de Florence, est décédée le 24 novembre 1911. Veuillez consulter son avis de décès ici:
SMITH, Kathleen Helen (nee Richards) November 24, 1911 April 10, 2010 Kathleen left us peacefully in her sleep at Glenwarren Lodge in her ninety-ninth year. Kathleen was pre-deceased by her husband, Charles, in 2005. She is survived by her stepbrother, Ian Macdonald, her son, Alan (Louise), her daughter, Sylvia, (Ron), and her grand children Annette (Rod), David, and Patrick. Kathleen was born in London, England, and following the death of her sister, Cynthia, she immigrated to Canada with her mother, Florence, and her sister, Marjorie, in 1921, settling initially with family in Hughenden, Alberta. Those were tough times for a single mother with two young daughters, and the lessons learned about making the best of things, the centrality of family, and always looking to the future stayed with Kathleen all her life. Kathleen attended business school in Edmonton and joined the Bank of Montreal. In the meantime, she met Charles Smith, also with the Bank of Montreal, and thus began a loving relationship which was to last a remarkable 80 years. Kathleen and Charles lived in seven communities, where she was always a leader in community life. They retired to Victoria in 1971, where they spent the happiest years of their lives. Kathleen will be remembered for her many kindnesses; her genuine respect for people around her; her forward looking, modern views; and her beaming smile. The family would like to thank all the staff at Glenwarren Lodge, Victoria, for their kindness and for providing the best possible quality of life for Kathleen for the 3.5 years she lived there. A memorial service will be held at St. Matthias Anglican Church, 600 Richmond Ave, Victoria, at 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 15. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Rainbow Kitchen Outreach program, 310 Henry St, Victoria, V9A 3J2, or to a charity of your choice. 585330
