WILLIAMS John (Jack) Herbert, born on September 13, 1919 in Edmonton, died peacefully on August 22, 2003 in Victoria. Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lyn; children, Rick (Patti), Ken (Betty), Janet (Scott); grandchildren, Allison, Cheryl, Stephanie, Jordan E., Mark, Andrew and Jordan; many nieces and nephews. Jack went to school in Forestburg, Alta. and Mt. View High in Victoria and then attended Victoria College and U.BC. He owned and operated Alberta Meat Distributors until his retirement in 1979. Past President of Victoria Gyro Club, he was also a member of Victoria Golf Club for many years. He enjoyed travelling and his garden and he loved to spend his summers with his family at Shawnigan Lake. The family would like to thank Dr. Ben How and the nurses and staff of 4W Jubilee Hospital, the Transitional care unit at Eric Martin and the kind and caring staff of Chandler unit of Glengarry Hospital. Service of Remembrance will be held at MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson at Vancouver Sts., on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at 2:00p.m. with a reception to follow at Victoria Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Victoria Epilepsy & Parkinson's Centre, 813 Darwin Avenue, Victoria, BC, V8X 2X7, would be appreciated.
