John W. Davis of Atlanta, GA, died September 2, 2013 at his home in Atlanta. He was born in Charleston, WV, on August 27, 1930, to the late Howard W. and Vera D. Davis. He graduated from Westport High School in Kansas City, MO, and received a BS in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University. He married Jean Zaumeyer in 1954 in Neenah, WI, and they were married for 46 years until her death in 2000. During their marriage, they lived in Neenah, WI, Childersburg, AL, Redding, CA and Surprise, AZ. He was employed by The Kimberly Clark Corporation for 38 years until his retirement in 1990. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Z. Davis, and his son, Steven R. Davis. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey H. (Carrie) Davis of Richmond, B.C., Canada; his daughter, Elizabeth J. Davis, of Atlanta, GA; and 3 grandchildren: Meaghan Davis Kinkade of Birmingham, AL; Christopher J. Davis of Corpus Christi, TX; and John V. Davis of Amarillo, TX. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 14th, at The Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 2699 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA at 10:00 am. The family requests that donations be made to The Weinstein Hospice, 3150 Howell Mill Road, Atlanta, GA 30327; or The Micheal J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (www.michaeljfox.org).
