Avera, GA – After an extended illness, John Randy Davis, 49, son of the late Marion McGahee Davis and the late Broadus Davis, entered into rest Friday, March 9, 2012 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Monday, March 12, 2012 in the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Pendrey officiating. Interment will follow in the Waldens UMC Cemetery, Avera GA. Randy was a member of Providence Baptist Church and was employed by Thermo King Corp for more than 26 yrs. His passion was farming, and when all his work was done, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking with his friends. Randy was a devoted father and a dedicated friend-he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Davis. Survivors include his son, John Lloyd Davis of Metter; two sisters, Betty D. Norton (Bucky) of Louisville and Shelby D. Shelton (James) of Gibson; sister-in-law, Ginger Davis of Avera; three nephews, Chris Davis (Rhonda), Edward Shelton (Allison) of Gibson, and Nathan Norton of Louisville; two nieces, Kathy Davis and Elizabeth Melson of Louisville; several great nephews and nieces; very special friends, Patricia DeLaigle of Waynesboro, and Brady and Lisa Hadden. Pallbearers will be Chris Davis, Sam Hadden, Jimmy Hughes, Mitchell McGraw, Jared Price and Glenn Rabun. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Davey Lamb and Talvin Hill.The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home this evening, Sunday, March 11, 2012, from 6:00-8:00P.M.
