John-Frederic Davis, conjoint de Evangeline Cousineau, père de Mary, Mexico et Anthony, est décédé le 8 avril 2005. Veuillez consulter son avis de décès ici:
OBITUARY JOHN FREDERIC DAVIS M. Eng., M.D., C.M. Passed away Friday April 8, 2005 at Hopital Charles-Lemoyne (Greenfield Park), due to complications linked to prostate cancer. He was eighty-seven years old. His wish was to donate his body to science, and more precisely to McGill University from which he graduated both as an engineer and as a physician. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. He is survived by his wife Evangeline Cousineau of St. Bruno, his son Anthony of Santa Fe, New Mexico, his daughter Mary Ellen of Montreal, and sisters Marianne and Ruth of N.D.G. His family is deeply saddened by the sudden loss, but also grateful that John survived so long, remaining professionally active until mid-March. His cancer had been diagnosed approximately twelve years ago. His departure was rapid, thus avoiding a long period of suffering. Born in 1917 in N.D.G., he worked at the Bank of Montreal to finance his studies. He graduated from McGill first in engineering and later in medicine. He married Eve in 1945 and moved to St-Bruno-de-Montarville in 1952 when it was still a village. During this period he was working at the Allan Memorial Institute. In 1962, the Davis family moved to Paris. In France, John helped coordinate formal connections between engineers and doctors, and this became known as biomedical engineering. He later worked as a consultant with offices in the historical Hopital de la Salpetriere. His work brought him to the former Soviet Union, China, Iran, Czechoslovakia, and many other countries. From 1974 through 1977, the family progressively returned to Montreal. From then on, Dr. Davis practiced psychotherapy with offices in Westmount and N.D.G. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dept. of Oncology at Hopital Charles-Lemoyne where John received excellent care over the years, or to Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders) at www.msf.org.
