John Franklin "Frank" Cathcart UNION, SC-- Mr. John Franklin "Frank" Cathcart, 77, husband of Sarah Billings Cathcart of 229 Bennett Street, Union, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Cathcart was born in Union, SC, August 18, 1936, a son of the late Herbert Cathcart and Marie Smith Cathcart. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Torrington River Plant. Mr. Cathcart was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. He was a Mason, Union Masonic Lodge #75; a Hejaz Shriner and a member of the Union Jaycees. Mr. Cathcart was also a member of the Buffalo Redman and had served as a Union City Volunteer Fireman. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Debbie Woodard and husband Bart of Union; a granddaughter, Casey Woodard of Union; two sisters: Sybil Ponder and Cora Snyder and husband Buddy and a brother, Carol Cathcart and wife Judy, all of Buffalo. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Melvin Shelton and Rev. Billy Cathcart. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mark Cathcart, Larry O'Shields, Randy Billings, Tommy Farr, Leigh Shropshire and Danny Ponder. The following are asked to serve as the Honorary Escort: Pat Brockman, Frank Alexander, Sid Jenkins, Bobby Hyatt, Benji Fleming, Randy and Donna Beardon, Dean and Sandra Tucker, Bob Smith, Raymond and Joe Ellen Addis, Rev. Tommy Brown and Jerry McDonald. Visitation will be held in the church sanctuary following the committal service. Memorials may be made to Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Ministry Center, 2153 Mt.
