Janet Brown Patterson, 71, Venice, died at home Oct. 1, 2005. She was born Sept. 18, 1934, in Detroit and came to Venice in 1996 from Royal Oak, Mich., where she was a school librarian and media specialist for 25 years. She retired from the Ferndale School System in 1995. She graduated from the University of Michigan and earned a master's degree in library science from Wayne State University. She was Episcopalian and a member of American Association of University Women. Survivors include a daughter, Ann E. Raden of Houston; sons Douglas of Royal Oak, Bradley of Okemos, Mich., and David of San Diego; a sister, Jean Bugg of Venice; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be later. Farley Funeral Home, Venice, is in charge.
