John William TraversApril 26, 2011John William Travers, 80, of Cape Coral died Tuesday April 26, 2011 at his home. He was born in New York City in 1930 to John and Elizabeth Travers. John lived in New York for many years where he worked for the New York City Transit Authority. He retired in 1989 and moved to Cape Coral in 1995. John enjoyed Golfing and Dancing. He was a member of the Elks Lodge # 2199 and Eagles Aerie # 3957. He served his country honorably with the US Navy.John was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Josephine Travers and his son Michael William Travers. He is survived by his wife Margaret "Marge" of Cape Coral, two sons John James Travers of Santa Fe, TX, and Brian Gerard (wife Kimberly) Travers of Kingwood, TX, Two daughters; Coleen Travers Lynch and Tara Travers both of Naples, Fl, two sisters Maureen McDoughna of Washingtonville, NY and Ann Bower of Ellenville, LA, one brother James Travers of Madisonville, LA, and three grandchildren Meaghan, Connor and Michael.The family will receive friends for viewing Saturday April 30, 2011 between the hours of 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Fuller Metz Funeral Home, 3740 Del Prado Blvd. in Cape Coral.
