Mr. John R. Davis, 85, of Gainesville died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at his residence.Born in Chattanooga, Tenn., Mr. Davis was the son of the late Sam R. and Ruth Greene Davis. Mr. Davis had lived in Hall County since 1998 and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was the retired owner and operator of Aero Enterprises and was a member of the Optimist Club in Chattanooga, Tenn. Mr. Davis was a member of the First Baptist Church on Green Street.Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Frankie Davis, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and David Blount, Dawsonville; grandson, Dr. Zachary Blount, Lansing, Mich.; grandson and wife, Captain Jonathan and Rosa Blount, Charleston, S.C.; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Xavier Blount, Charleston, S.C., and Taylor and Bailey Blount, Dawsonville; niece, Ginya Dery, Vero Beach, Fla.; nephew, James N. Sikes Jr., Knoxville, Tenn.Mr. Davis is preceded in death by a grandson, Nicholas A. Blount; sister, Louise Royer and brother, Edgar A. Davis.Memorial services will be held Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the First Baptist Church on Green Street. Dr. Bill Coates and the Rev. Bruce Fields will officiate.
