John C. Davis, 57, of Shelby County, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. He was born Jan. 31, 1955 to the late Clarence and Katie Murphy Davis in Finchville. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Gladys Spurlock and Sarah "Lill" Cochran and two brothers, Joseph Stewart and Clarence "Butch" Davis. He is survived by two sisters, Bessie Davis of Bagdad, Ruth Lewis of Shelbyville; brothers, Omer of Cincinnati, Wilbur of Bagdad; Bobby of Shelbyville; aunts, Onnie Davis and Virginia Beckham both of Louisville and Mary Margaret Davis of New Castle; uncles, Will Murphy Jr. of Finchville and Clark Murphy of Louisville. Funeral services were Monday at the Shannon Funeral Home. Visitation was Sunday at the funeral home. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
