James Byrnes McQuillan of New York City died on July 13, 2002 at the V.A. Medical Center in Manhattan. Mr. McQuillan was a well known attorney in the aviation field and retired from Bigham, Englar, Jones and Houston. Mr. McQuillan was born in Yonkers, NY to Walter and Irene Byrnes McQuillan. His undergraduate work was done at New York University and he graduated from Fordham Law School in 1951, where he was on the Fordham Law Review. His interest in aviation started in WWII, attaining rank of Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps and piloted B 24s in both the European and Pacific Theatre from 1944 to 1947. He was a POW in Odessa, Russia. He is survived by his wife Joan, his daughter Patricia McQuillan Jontow of California and two grandchildren, Erin and Joshua Jontow. Family will receive friends on Friday, July 19, 2002 from 7-9 PM at Graham Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 AM on Saturday, July 20, 2002 at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Yonkers, NY.
