Irene was retired from the United States Postal Department with 30 years of service as a mail sorter. Originally from Gary, IN, she grew up with her parents and siblings. Her father Joseph Minniti from Reggio Calabria, Italy and her mother Lucie Spodinski Minniti from Berlin, Germany came to America when they were in their 20s. Irene had seven siblings, Judith (Carl), Robert (Jeanette), Florence (Frank), Albert (Jeanne), Hubert, Humbert (Kathleen), and Joseph Jr. (Shirley); four children, Sharon, Patricia, Robert, and Catherine; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. God love you mom. A visitation will be held at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave., Tampa, on Tuesday evening, April 29, 2014, from 5-7 pm with a funeral mass on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 4520 South Manhattan Avenue, Tampa at 10:30 am.
