AUSTIN, Gene - Suddenly passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the age of 71. Our Dad will forever be missed by his daughters Sue Jones and her husband Dan, Brenda Austin and boyfriend Dan Stones. Papa will always be remembered by his grandchildren Zackery & Aidan Jones, Devin & Emma Winstanley. Gene was sadly predeceased by his loving wife and best friend Joanne of 45 years in 2004. Every fall his hunting buddies will always miss stories, jokes and his bad aim. He was a faithful employee of Enbridge Gas for 40 years until the time of his retirement at the age of 58. Gene dedicated much of his youth to modified stock car racing at Merritville Speedway in car #4 until he became a dad in 1971. Family invites friends for a time of remembrance and visitation at BUTLER FUNERAL HOME, 33 Duke St., Downtown Chapel on Saturday August 22 and Sunday August 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 with a funeral service to take place in the chapel on Monday August 24th at 11 am, inturment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery along side his wife Joanne.
