Francis McKenzie Francis Varnell "Mac" McKenzie, 86, passed away Aug. 27, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Addie Dora McKenzie. He worked as a Hydro Plant Operator for Florida Power for 30 years. He was born in Sanborn, Florida and lived in this area his entire life. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.He loved the outdoors. He was a fishing guide at the age of 7 years old and as a young man, he was a commercial fisherman. He was raised at Silver Lake Fish Camp, which his parents owned. He loved his family very much. Donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL, 32308-5862.Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. EDT Saturday, Aug. 30, at Smith Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Harvey-Young Funeral Home (850-926-3333) in Crawfordville. He is survived by a son, Robby McKenzie (and wife Frances) of Quincy, FL; two daughters, Judy Thursby and Martha Jones (and husband Tommy) of Tallahassee; a sister, Allene Raker of Crawfordville; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews; and a devoted friend, Howard Langridge of Sanborn.He is predeceased by his parents, Eli and Mittie McKenzie; a brother, Bob McKenzie and a sister, Keturah McKenzie.
