Entered into eternal rest on the morning of April 30, 2008, Frances Ray Clark, widow of Woodrow Wilson Clark. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her graveside funeral service in Greenville Memorial Gardens, Saturday afternoon, May 3, 2008, at two-thirty o'clock. The family will receive friends after the service at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Clark was born on March 15, 1918 in Greenville, S.C., a daughter of Jesse M. Ray and Ethel McWhite Ray. She was a member of Eastlan Baptist Church. Mrs. Clark attended Greenville County Schools and was valedictorian of her high school class. She was an avid sports fan and played basketball, side center on team that won the Greenville County Championship. Mrs. Clark was a bookkeeper with Borden Ice Cream Company for 17 years and was co-owner of Clark Wholesale Candy Company. Surviving are two daughters, Raye Clark Mathis and her husband, Joe, of Newport News, Va., and Judy Clark Jordan and her husband, Wayne, of Charleston; a brother, Jesse Ray and his wife, Dot, of Greenville, S.C.; a sister, Mary James and her husband, Carroll, of Greenville, S.C.; three grandsons, Clark Mathis and his wife, Beth, of Studio City, Calif., Matt Jordan and Daniel Jordan, both of Charleston; and two great-grandsons, Cole Wilson Mathis and Nathaniel Joseph Mathis.
