SEBRING, Fla. - Elizabeth Stewart, 95, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013. Elizabeth was born in Watervliet, N.Y., to Harry and Lily Newnham Doust, and graduated from Russell Sage College. Prior to her marriage to Edward Stewart, she taught high school business courses. When her youngest child entered school, Elizabeth taught kindergarten and later first grade until her retirement. In 1988, she and Edward moved from Bethlehem, Pa., to Sebring. Following her husband's death, Elizabeth went through the first Good Shepherd Hospice Volunteer Class in Highlands County and was a volunteer for many years. She also was a volunteer in the Pre-Kindergarten Migrant Class at Woodlawn Elementary for over 15 years. An avid golfer, she was a former member of the Golf Hammock 9 Holers. Elizabeth remained an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sebring until her death. Elizabeth is survived by her four children, Diane Flack (Ned) of Charlottesville, Va., Barbara (Fred Trippensee) of Avon Park, Edward Jr. (Leslee) of Manchester, N.H., and Robert (Claudia) of N. Merrick, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Deborah Richey (Brett), Susan Lutz, Edward III (Catherine), Sean (Elizabeth), Ryan (Marissa), and Katelyn Sypher (Matt); six great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Walsh; and sister-in-law Mary Elizabeth Stewart. . services: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, at noon at the First Presbyterian Church of Sebring, located at 319 Poinsettia Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the YMCA of Greater Manchester , 30 Mechanic St., Manchester, NH 03101, to benefit Community Outreach programs.
