ELAINE M. CLARK GROTON - Elaine M. Clark, 52, of 106 Hamilton Square, Groton, died peacefully at her home after a short illness on Sunday, August 9, 2009. Elaine was born on March 11, 1957 in Ithaca and was a lifelong resident of the Groton area. She graduated from Groton Central School in 1975 and married her husband, Thomas W. Clark, Jr. on June 26, 1976. She worked as a teacher's aide at Groton Head Start and later at Smith Corona Corp. and Marietta until illness forced her retirement. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Elaine was a member at the Groton Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday School and a past member of the Groton Fireman's Auxiliary. In addition to her husband at home; she is survived by her children, Thomas W. (Kristen) Clark III of New Hampshire and Tara Clark of Groton; her mother, Evelyn Parker of Groton; three grandchildren; an aunt, Mildred Ashley; an uncle, Jerry Ashley, both of California. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 7:00 p.m. at the Groton Assembly of God Church with Pastor Sam Neno officiating. Interment will be in Groton Rural Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams Street, Groton.
