JONES, Donna Elizabeth, 84, of Plant City, Fla., departed this life Monday, December 14, 2009, in Lakeland, Fla. She was born March 2, 1925, to Donald and Emma Hull, and was a fourth-generation descendent of the pioneering Hull and McDonald families, who helped settle the Hopewell community, south of Plant City. Donna was first and foremost a child of God, who exemplified her Christian way daily with faith, hope and love. She was a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) in Plant City, and as a fervent believer in the power of prayer, she was a devoted member of several prayer groups. In recent years, she helped compile a history of the Hull family in the south, and was active with the Hull family association. She graduated from Plant City High School and attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va., and the University of Alabama, where she met her future husband and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She treasured her role as mother and grand-mother, and loved to spend time at her beach place in Venice. She was happiest when surrounded by family. Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, D.L. Jones, and brothers, Roy H. Hull and Dwight Hull. She is survived by her children, Pamela of Brooksville, Fla., David (Sue Jean) of Plant City, Fla., and Don (Teena) of Warner Robbins, Ga.; grandchildren, Matthew, Christen, Don D. and Michael; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday, December 19, at Hopewell Funeral Home, 6005 S. State Road 39, Plant City. Graveside services will follow at Hopewell Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 13815 N. Salvation Army Lane, Tampa, FL 33613 and/or EPC, 1107 Charlie Griffin Road, Plant City, FL 33566.
