David Leon Blackburn of Shalimar, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.Born in Kentucky, he later moved to the Fort Walton Beach area in 1960. David was an employee in the food service industry and a longtime employee of both the Mess Hall at Eglin Air Force Base and later the Officer's Club. He loved fishing, walking and bicycling.David is survived by one brother, John T. Blackburn; three nephews, James Brent Blackburn and John S. Blackburn of Crestview, Fla., and Eric Blackburn of Kentucky; and three nieces, Brenda L. Urich and Venisa L. Boan of Crestview, and Mickie Baer of Dixon, Tenn.Private inurnment services will be held at a later date.
