WILLIAMS, DAVID C. David Christopher Williams, 38, died peacefully at home in Clermont, Florida, Saturday, June 20, 2009, surrounded by his family after valiantly battling cancer for more than three years. Chris was born on July 22, 1970, in Greensboro, North Carolina. He and his family moved to Gainesville, Florida, in 1977. Chris graduated from Buchholz High School and the University of Florida before pursuing his dream as an entertainer. Chris was a founding member of and performed with the band Isis which became popular first in Orlando and the southeast. Later, performing both in Biloxi, Mississippi, and Las Vegas, Nevada, Isis became a casino favorite and Chris quickly gained celebrity in his own right due to signature performances of songs by popular artists such as Prince, Usher, Will Smith, and Cameo, and developed a strong following that transcended his departure from the band. After relocating to the Orlando area, Chris used his considerable talents and charismatic energy to bring joy to those he entertained, in his many roles at Universal Studios, including recurring roles in Beetlejuice Review, Grinchmas, Revenge of the Mummy, Hollywood Hi-Tones, and Marvel Super Heroes, voice-overs for EA Sports console games, and as the notorious Captain Sebastian the Black, at Pirate's Dinner Adventure Orlando. In 2005, he performed his original music and dance choreography live at the Orlando Hard Rock Café, and self-produced a DVD of the show. His return to Isis for one performance in Biloxi at the Beau Rivage Casino in 2007 garnered significant attention and rave reviews. But Chris' most outstanding role, by far, was that of loving husband, son, brother, cousin, nephew and friend. From his family, to his many friends and fans, and even fellow cancer patients, Chris' strength and generosity of spirit was an inspiration to all he encountered. He is survived by his wife, Cathryn A. Williams; his parents, David F. and Sylvia G. Williams, of Gainesville; his sister, Andrea E. Stokes, of Gainesville; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and a bounty of treasured loved ones and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Monday, June 29, 2009, at the chapel at Forest Meadows Memorial Park, 4100 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville, Florida, 32606. There will be a lunch reception immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Make a Wish Foundation of America, Make- A- Wish Foundation, P.O. Box 52435, Phoenix, Arizona 85072, and the Fisher House Foundation, Inc., 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420 Rockville, MD 20850, which provides lodging at no cost for military families of wounded veterans. Arrangements are in the care of Forest Meadows Funeral Home, Cemeteries, and Crematory. Please sign our guestbook at www.forestmeadowsfh.com.
