Darlene Taylor, age 53, of Simpsonville, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church were she was involved with the youth groups and vacation Bible school. She was a graduate of Shelby County High School and of Roys Academy of Cosmetology. She owned a beauty shop, Friends Salon, in Simpsonville. She is preceded in death by her father, Forest Washburn. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Bill Taylor of Simpsonville; two sons, David Taylor of Simpsonville and Andy Taylor of Fisherville; mother, Pauline Washburn of Simpsonville; grandchildren, Trent, Sean, Steven, Sophia, and Nathan Taylor; siblings, Phillip Washburn of Louisville, Lisa Clark of Shelbyville, Teresa Eskridge of Louisville, and Glen Washburn of Shelbyville; aunt, Joyce Sloan of Louisville; and a multitude of friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Steven Carreker officiating. Visitation is noon till 8 p.m. Saturday at the Shannon Funeral Home and 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Burial is at Simpsonville Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund or favorite charity of choice.
