SMITH Crystal Dawn (Gayler) Smith, beloved wife, mother, daughter and sister, 35 years old, died at her home in Brockton after a long battle with breast cancer on Aug. 14, 2007. She was born on May 15, 1972, in Granger, Utah, daughter of Dick and Danna Gayler of Layton, Utah. Crystal felt her greatest accomplishment was that of mother and wife. She loved making a home and caring for her family. She held different positions throughout her life, including nanny, office manager, and software developer. She enjoyed serving in different capacities, including President of the Brockton Mom's Club where she designed a website that was awarded website of the year. Crystal took great joy in gardening and was an avid reader. She loved many different types of music and loved to ride bikes with her husband. She was a consummate entertainer and thoroughly enjoyed cooking and great wine. She took great pride in planning and executing every last detail of any event she was part of, from her daughter's birthday party to Thanksgiving dinner. Crystal had the ability to make everyone feel welcome, cared for and at ease in her home. She was very humble and never sought to be the center of attention. She quietly touched the lives of those people who were fortunate enough to know her. Her family looked to Crystal first whenever they needed some kind of guidance in their life. Her family was constantly amazed at Crystal's knowledge. She always seemed to have the answer and they could talk to her about anything. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her beloved husband Greg and 4 year-old daughter Grace of Brockton; as well as stepdaughters, Shera Smith of Pittsburgh, Pa., Vanessa Smith of Whitman, and Krysta Smith of Whitman; parents, Dick and Danna Gayler of Layton, Utah; sisters, Carrie Gayler of Springville, Utah, and Gail McPhie of Riverton; half sister, Stacie Gayler of West Valley City, Utah; half brother, Steve Gayler of West Valley City, Utah; and grandfather, Dan Baldwin of Wellington, Utah; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by her in-laws, Bruce and Lorraine Smith of Chatham, Steve Smith of Oregon, Lynne Casoli of Whitman, Andrew Smith of Plymouth, Vt., and Matthew Smith of Chatham, and Moe the cat of Brockton. Visiting hours will be held from 6-7 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 7 p.m. at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, 666 Plymouth St., Whitman, on Monday, Aug. 20, 2007.
