Charles "Bud" Rupert Williams, 71, of 219 Second St., Newry, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at Oconee Memorial Hospital.He was born in Newry and was a lifelong resident. He was retired from Clemson University, was a member of Newry Church of God for over 53 years, and was a member of the Senior Adult Men's Class. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rupert "R.P." and Frances Elizabeth Meadows Williams; also preceded by six brothers, Courtney, Haskell, Howard, Alex, Gerald and John Henry Williams; and three sisters, Lillie W. Tong, Audrey W. Ellenburg and Helen Ratliff.He is survived by a brother, Columbus Jack Williams, of Grovetown, Ga.; four sisters, Wilma W. Sanders, of Scottsmoor, Fla., Catherine W. O'Donald, of Gaffney, Martha W. O'Donald, of Easley, and Frankie Sue W. Sporman, of Long Beach, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Newry Church of God, with the Revs. Stan Rankin, Marvin Lee and J.H. Hammond officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home of Seneca. The family will be at 60 Broadway in Newry at other times.Memorials may be made to Newry Church of God, Newry, SC 29665, Building Fund.Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home of Seneca is in charge of arrangements.
